The Covid-19 outbreak is having a big impact on local small businesses. Ed Hennings, owner of The Hair Code Barbershop and Hair Salon on Milwaukee’s north side, was forced to close shop and won’t open again for weeks, if not longer. But amid the pandemic, he’s making sure to take care of his family, especially his grandmother. There has been some encouraging signs. Hennings said he’s been inspired by how people are using social media to stay socially connected even when we’re physically isolated and utilizing the platforms to get critical information out to people who need it most.
Hennings was featured in the most recent episode of “10thirtysix” for his participating in a Health Department program that trains barbers how to identify and be a resource to clients going through mental health challenges.
